Thanks to everyone for coming to the WNHL Draft at the Rex Hotel last Wednesday. It was great to see everyone after the off-season for some Pizza and Beers. The teams look competitive, tight and we had a good amount of shake up from last year’s roster. Just a reminder the WNHL Season kicks off this Wednesday September 13th at 10pm in Welland and Port. Evan Fabiani has updated the schedules, he will be working with Scott Macleod to keep the stats and wins/loses up to date on the site this season. So thanks to them for all their hard work.

Boys get your skates sharpened and your hustle activated! The WNHL Draft for the 2017-2018 Season is this Wednesday. Food will be provided at 7pm from the Rex Hotel and the draft will begin after that. Last Pick Overall will get a Presstime T-shirt and an 18 Pack of Blue Light. Not bad for being last! This is also the deadline for payment please contact me if you want to make arrangements beforehand.

Looking forward to Wednesday when we can make brand new teams to pursue the King Street Cup this Season.

Hello WNHL.

The GM’s and newly crowned Co-Commissioner Scott Macleod met a few weeks ago to discuss what are some the changes that could make the new season better. Here are some of them in no particular order……

• Play the puck off the mesh for the sake of game flow during the regular season
• Icing will be a blatant dump from before the blue line. The offending team will give the other up to the red line to restart play
• Keep the four goalie rotation through out the entire regular season. At the end of the regular season the best team will get to select their goalie that they will keep for the entire playoffs and the championship game. Picking order will move down the standings from there.
• All Playoff and championship games will have refs and timekeepers. Standard Rules Apply, blue line icing. 2 minute penalties
• Playoff games will be 50 minute run time. Championship games will be 3 – 14 minute periods

August 1st 2017 – Early Bird Payment Free WNHL Free T-shirt deadline

August 18th – Jersey order deadline for the new season (see post below for details)

September 6th 2017 – WNHL Draft – Rex Hotel 8pm (Deadline for payment)

September 13th 2017 – WNHL Season Opener

November 15th 2017 – WNHL Christmas Classic Tournament Draft – Rex Hotel 8pm (attendance not required)

December 2nd – WNHL Christmas Classic – Welland Arena/Rex Hotel

February 21st – End of WNHL Regular Season

February 28th – Start of WNHL Playoffs

April 7th – WNHL Championship – Meridian Centre (subject to location due to possible ice dogs playoff game)
