Zoom Draft this Wednesday

Doug Ford is so jealous that he can’t play in the WNHL this season that he changed the social gathering laws so we couldn’t do the WNHL 2020-2021 Draft live and in person. We will be gathering on Zoom to see the new teams as they will be carefully picked like buying expensive produce.

Check out this great Draft Promo Video created by our Evan Fabiani.

See you on the Zoom as the season draws near!

The New Season is starting to take Shape!

We have been working hard at the WNHL Head Office for the new season. Just looking to confirm season start date, locations and times this week. On September 9th we will be having the WNHL Try-out Rookie Game at the Pelham Arena. This will give the 6 GM’s a good look at the new talent.

The draft is scheduled for Wednesday September 23rd location TBD. So get your popcorn ready for one of the biggest events of the year.

The cost for the season will be 420 and with the looming affects of COVID-19 we will be taking 120 up front. Once it looks promising for a full season we will collect the remaining 300. We will have refs all season this year.

It looks like we have time in the change rooms to get ready and won’t have to get dressed at home. “Gatorade” in the changeroom will be BYOB for the first month once we get a feel for what is happening with the new system.

Thanks, Kelly Jones – WNHL Commissioner

The Return of the Mighty W?

Hello WNHL Athlete, Having our first 6 team season go up in COVID-19 Smoke was not ideal. As a league we are looking forward to a new season. We have been communicating with the local arenas in Niagara and looks like we be able to have a season in October of 2020 with locations and times TBD. This will probably look different with us not having regular access to change rooms and showing up mostly dressed for games and other precautions in place to protect our athletes. Many rinks have not laid out their entire plans so more information will be shared. The most important question are you interested in returning to the WNHL this season? We will probably be paying for the season with instalment payments in case of 2nd wave and we have to adjust the season. I am still gathering costs but with refs all season I am guessing we will be in the $420 (Snooch) to $440 range for the entire season. Beer will be WNHL Beer Card Only this season and without proper change rooms I am not sure how we will roll out the beers just yet. The Rex and Pipers are interested in having us half-dressed with Febreeze in hand for food and refreshment. Please send a message to see if you are interested in the upcoming season by August 28th 5pm 2020. Hope to see you on the ice very soon.

Kelly Jones
